avsnet has been in the press again recently. Managing Director Graham Fry sat down with CRN magazine to discuss his career and provided some insight around IT security for MicroScope.
As part of its Readers’ Lives series, where the magazine interviews key channel players, Graham answered a wide range of questions from his first job and his approach to managing a fast growing collaboration specialist, to his favourite joke.
When asked to describe the characteristics of the perfect channel partner, Graham said:
“Complete agility and flexibility at every stage of the development and deployment process. Knowledge and industry expertise ensures customers receive the very best technology available to them and the correct solution for their needs.”
He also discussed some of the important trends currently facing the channel:
“More businesses than ever are starting to understand how crucial visual communications and UC are to employees’ working lives. Ensuring technology delivers tangible business outcomes, whatever the consumption model, will remain important.”
Also during the same month, Graham spoke with MicroScope about IT security and what role channel partners play in helping to keep end users protected. The feature, titled Fear is the Key, explored the alternative methods to scare stories for promoting security services.
Graham explained that there is an alternative, more positive approach to driving sales and providing customers with long-term business value from their IT. Fear is no longer necessary as businesses realise the importance of investing in IT security to keep their networks and data secure.
He continued, “A unified approach ensures customers are protected against a complex threat landscape and equipped with an IT, network and security team that can guide the company towards its strategic objectives, not only its security concerns.”
